Chicago White Sox crush Minnesota Twins 8-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox crushed the Minnesota Twins 8-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 25 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
The White Sox entire team played wonderfully and earned a great victory in the end. They played as one unit and kept the Twins under pressure throughout the game which eventually landed them the third victory of the series.
"Just a terrible series by us, But a very good series by the other team. They whacked it, and they pounded us -- scored a lot of runs, and we got dominated here," Twins' manager Ron Gardenhire said.
The White Sox talented players especially experienced hitters played tremendously and gave a tough time to the Twins’ pitchers.
In Wednesday’s game, the White Sox batters again showed their true offensive game and kept the Twins pitchers under pressure and hammered them with big hits.
Left fielder Dayan Viciedo and Alex Rios smashed homers at crucial stage of the game and helped the White Sox to oust their opponents with quite ease.
"You get that feeling back, It's one thing to go through a tough stretch and start winning games again, you get back, the guys swinging the bats pretty good and guys pitching fairly well," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.
Short stop Alexei Ramirez also played well and scored two runs on two hits as his slugging percentage also remained consistent .349.
Along with batters, the White Sox pitchers also performed terrifically and pushed the Twins' hitters with enormous power as they were only able to score two runs in total nine innings.
Starting pitcher Jake Peavy allowed only two runs on six hits while he also gave only one earned run and struck-out six Twins hitters on 3.15.
"These three games we just played good team baseball, It's nice to come back after the road trip we had. We had a short homestand, but we played well, got back on track," Peavy said.
On the other hand, the Twins starter Nick Blackburn was hammered with eight runs on ten hits and literally lost the game for his team. He also gave eight earned runs as his ERA rose to 7.99.
