Chicago White Sox crush Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox dominated the Toronto Blue Jays 2-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, July 7 at U.S. Cellular Field.
Kevin Youkilis and Gavin Floyd helped the White Sox to power past the Blue Jays in style.
Youkilis batted tremendously and hit a two run homer while the starter Gavin Floyd pitched solid 7.2 innings and finished scoreless.
Kevin discussed his team's tremendous win and said, "You can be popular one week then a bomb the next, The game is crazy and you just have to keep grinding it out. You can't get too high, you can't get too low, you just try to stay in the middle."
“It's hard to say you expect it, but you like having guys on base and you like him in tough situations because he just continues to find the right pitch and just battle," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said on his team’s brilliant play.
"The 1-1 pitch where he's trying to go in on Youkilis, he misfires across the plate and it cost him two runs, ultimately the ballgame,” Blue Jays' manager John Farrell said.
The Blue Jays, who have suffered their third straight defeat since losing the last game from the Kansas City Royals, also lost the series 2-0 from the White Sox with one game to spare on Sunday, July 8.
Ricky Romero gave two important runs and two earned runs on his six innings spell while his ERA rose to 5.22.
Along with pitchers, the Blue Jays' batters also did not perform and literally did not show any fighting spirit throughout the game which proved disastrous for Toronto side.
On the other hand, the White Sox with these two back-to-back wins, now standing at top in the American League Central with 47-37 win loss record along with .560 winning percentage.
This is a healthy sign for the White Sox who knew that before mid season break, they certainly needed these kinds of brilliant wins.
Blue Jays are still at the bottom in the American League East with 42-43 win-loss record and .494 winning percentage.
