Chicago White Sox crushed by Baltimore Orioles 0-6 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox were shut-out by the Baltimore Orioles 0-6 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 28 at Oriole Park in Baltimore.
Orioles' entire roster played wonderfully and earned a critical victory in the series. Their players combined and proved too good for the White Sox.
Starter Chris Tillman started well for the Orioles as he pitched seven innings and did not allowe any run. He received only one hit on his 3.26 ERA.
“If J.J. isn't making the play, then no one's making the play, There were plenty of games where I had better stuff, There were some spurts there when I kind of got out of whack," said Tillman with confidence on his outing.
Later Jones commented about Tillman and said, "Tillman shut down one of the game's best offenses, Those guys are hitting. He shut that lineup down."
He struck-out five and did not let the White Sox’s batters dominate during the entire game. He provided the Orioles a firm platform to oust the White Sox in style.
His team-mate and closing pitcher Brian Matusz also helped his starter and proved to be productive in his team’s win.
He pitched two innings and received one hit only on his 5.28 ERA while he struck-out two potential White Sox’s batters.
Chicago manager Robin Ventura commented on his team’s performance and said, "It was just one of those evenings it didn't look like he had it."
On the other hand, the White Sox pitchers and hitters did not play well and lost by a decent margin.
Starter Chris Sale pitched four innings and allowed six hits and four runs along with four earned runs on his 2.81 ERA.
"It was almost like I hit a brick wall, The first couple of (batters) I felt like I was dialed in, throwing strikes. Then it just got away," Sale said.
White Sox’s closing pitcher Philip Humber pitched four innings and allowed two runs and five hits on his 5.87 ERA. He also could not handle the Orioles’ aggressive batters and lost the game for the South Chicago side.
