Chicago White Sox crushed by Detroit Tigers 1-7 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox were crushed by Detroit Tigers 1-7 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, July 21 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Tigers’ upfront pitchers played beautifully and earned a great win for their team.
Rick Porcello pitched eight innings and received only one run on five hits. He gave one earned run only and retired four White Sox batters as his ERA remained consistent at 4.40.
"On paper, you can say whatever you want, but if you don't perform on the field then it means nothing, We all believed in each other, and we've still got a lot of work to do. This isn't over yet. This is just getting started," Porcello said with confidence on his particular outing which earned a great victory for his team.
Porcello added with more detail on the different aspects of his team’s combined effort and said, "I know in my case, if I have two outs and the guy gets a big hit or something like that, that's the dagger, It's one of the worst things you can go through. ... Our offense, the way they've been playing is really nice."
Closer Joaquin Benoit also played his part and finished well with his one inning spell. He went scoreless and struck-out one as his ERA also remained consistent at 3.00.
On the other hand, the White Sox pitchers did not play well and could not capitalise on their natural aggressive and fast pitches which cost them as they lost bitterly in the end.
Chris Sale pitched seven innings and hammered with five runs on seven hits. He gave five earned runs along with a homer as his ERA remained at 2.37.
Closer Dylan Axelrod also played poorly and was hammered with two runs on three hits while he also gave two earned runs as his ERA rose to 5.63.
Overall the game was played on high pace but at middle of the play, the Tigers took the lead and later maintained it with total precision which eventually proved wonderful for them as they won the game with style.
