Chicago White Sox defeat Baltimore Orioles 6-3 - MLB Update
Mark Buehrle got some backing from the offence on Thursday, August 11 as he helped the Chicago White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 at Oriole Park.
Juan Pierre also had two RBIs – having three hits to his credit, to win the four-game series by 3-1 for the White Sox.
For Pierre it was one of the best series for him and his team. "Any other division we're looking at offseason plans like fishing. But in this division we're still in the middle of it," Pierre said. "Without a doubt the best road trip we have had all year.
Everything clicked all throughout the lineup."
Mark Buehrle who gave up three hits and allowed three runs in the third then remained unyielding throughout the game, keeping the Baltimore Orioles' hitters at bay to conclude the game with a favourable note for the White Sox.
"You still got to go out there and pitch, but any time you get runs early in the game it helps out, especially before you take the mound," Buehrle said. "The goal I always go for is to go deep in the game, have us score runs and have the bullpen protect
your leads."
Chris Tillman started the game on Thursday by pitching against the Chicago White Sox. His very first inning turned out to be no less than a disaster for the Orioles as hitter after hitter capitalised on his seemingly slow pitches.
Alexei Ramirez was the first one to homer, giving the team an early and precious 2-0 lead. If that was not enough, Carlos Quentin followed by another single to triple the lead. A. J. Pierzynski came up with another single to make it 4-0 for the Chicago White
Sox by the end of the first inning.
Backed by a strong offence, Buehrle then barely allowed the Orioles' offence to make any inroads into coming back in the game. His pitches were fast enough to render the Orioles' offence incapable to score.
Juan Pierre hit a two-run RBI in the third inning to take up the lead for the Chicago White Sox as Chris Tillman struggled to keep the offence at bay. Pierre’s RBI double turned out to be a decisive factor in the White Sox favour.
Baltimore Orioles had an opportunity in the third with J. J. Hardy’s single and Nick Markakis homer to make it 6-3 for the team. However, Buehrle pitched solid innings with precision to maintain the lead throughout the game.
Once Buehrle ended his eighth inning spell, Sergio Santos came as a closer and tossed a shut-out ninth inning to effortlessly pack the game with 6-3 winning score for the Chicago White Sox.
