Chicago White Sox defeat Cleveland Indians 2-1, in three-game series – American League Round-Up
American League’s Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox, both, went head-to-head in an exhilarating three game series. White Sox did a stunning job as it confirmed a 2-1 win after defeating Cleveland Indians in this series.
White Sox has had an astonishing season so far as it maintained a reasonable Win-Loss record during the spring training season.
Let us take a look at the summary of the games.
Game 1 – April 1: Chicago White Sox 15 – Cleveland Indians 10
White Sox managed a 15-10 victory in the first game, as Mark Buehrle was incredible with his pitching. He pitched his respective six innings with an ERA of 6.00 without striking out any batter in the White Sox victory.
Buehrle said, “I told the guys in the first inning to get me five runs. They got me two. They asked if that was enough and I said 'No, keep them coming”.
On the other hand, Indians’ batters posted 10 runs right through the game. Fausto Carmona pitched well for the Indians but it was not enough to steal a win for his team.
He was able to strike out five batters during his 88 pitches, giving away one walk, 11 hits, 10 runs, two home runs and 10 earned runs with an ERA of 30.00.
Game 2 – April 2: Chicago White Sox 8 – Cleveland Indians 3
During the second game, White Sox outshined Cleveland Indians by 8-3.
White Sox’ starter, Edwin Jackson, threw the ball in right line as he pitched six innings, permitting just three runs, with an ERA of 3.00. Jackson struck out seven batters on his 99 pitches.
Speaking to reporters, Jackson said, “We're happy right now. Look around the clubhouse; it's pretty loose and relaxed. That's part of the game. You win when you go out and have fun”.
Indians’ batters were unsteady with their bats and were able to contribute just three runs until the end of the game.
Carlos Carrasco had a shaky day with the ball as he pitched 6 2/3 innings with an ERA of 9.45, permitting 10 hits, seven runs, seven earned runs and two walks on his 103 pitches.
Game 3 – April 3: Chicago White Sox 1 – Cleveland Indians 7
During the last game of the series, White Sox lost by 7-1.
Indians’ second baseman, Orlando Cabrera, furbished two RBIs, including two runs, and went 3-for-4 with an average of .417.
He said, “You don't win or lose a division in the first week or even the first month. But getting that first win is always huge. The triple play got us going”.
White Sox contributed just one run in the series finale. Omar Vizquel made the one and only run for White Sox, but a team effort gave White Sox a series' win against the Indians.
