Chicago White Sox defeat Cleveland Indians 5-4 – MLB Update
Alexei Ramirez went for a seventh inning tiebreaking single to help the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 5-4 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
White Sox reversed the lead the Indians had made by winning the first game of the day 4-3.
Locked in a battle to secure second place in the American League Central division, the Indians and White Sox are battling hard to prevail. Both teams were driven out of the race last week when the Detroit Tigers topped and won the division.
White Sox brought the rookie Dylan Axelrod to pitch after they lost the first game of the day. The rookie did not prove instrumental as he gave up four runs and four hits in 4.2 innings with an exorbitant 7.71 ERA.
However, Chris Sale tossed effective pitches in just over a single inning to have the seventh save of the season and winning an important victory for the White Sox after receiving a setback in the morning.
Zach McAllister, the new rookie for the Cleveland Indians, had a tough time as he gave up two runs in the 5.1 innings he pitched with 3.38 ERA.
Dylan Axelrod gave up four runs in the fourth inning when Jim Thome, Grady Sizemore, Matt LaPorta and Jack Hannahan scored a single each to give the team a comfortable 4-0 lead. However, Gordon Beckham scored a one-run single to bring it down to 4-1.
Alejandro De Aza scored a two-run double that brought the lead down to 4-3 in the sixth inning against Zach McAllister. As Zach Putnam relieved Perez, Juan Pierre scored the tying run while Alexei Ramirez scored the tiebreaking run to put the White Sox in
charge of the game.
As the White Sox secured lead in the game, Chris Sale went for strong inning to wrap up the game with a 5-4 win for the White Sox against the Indians which seemed to be all set for winning the second game of the day with complete ease.
The White Sox put in a tremendous effort as they fought hard throughout the game and got a much needed win over the Indians.
