Chicago White Sox defeat Cleveland Indians 7-2 – Major League Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 7-2 on Tuesday, May 1 at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois.
With this win, the White Sox have taken lead in their three-match regular series 1-0.
White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham was pick-of-the-day as he played brilliantly and went 3-for-4 with a single homer and two RBIs cruising through towards a delightful victory.
His offensive game played much resisting part in White Sox’s win as their opponents never bounced back from the bigger gap of seven runs into the fifth innings.
Chicago manager Robin Ventura was happy on his team’s combine performance. He later, after the game, also spoke to the media and explained about Beckham’s contribution and how good his comeback is for the future results of White Six.
Ventura said, "(Beckham) swung well, it's part of believing in yourself. He hasn't gone down that path of not believing in himself. He's just looked better the last few times he's gone to the plate. ... Now you build off that."
The White Sox left-handed starter Chris Sale was also happy on his teammate’s tremendous outing. He said for Beckham with confidence, "The way they swung the bats tonight was fun to watch. The funnest part of tonight was watching him (Beckham) completely go off."
Indians manager Manny Acta looked much frustrated after the loss as he told the media about his team’s somewhat lame performance and poor defence.
He said, “We just didn't play good defense, period. We didn't catch the ball in the air, we didn't catch the ball on the ground, we didn't cover the bases when we had to, plain and simple.”
White Sox showed overall dominance throughout the game and never allowed the Indians to settle. The seven runs’ lead proved ultimate for the White Sox despite the Indians did try to make a comeback in the seventh innings with their overall second score of the game.
The entire White Sox management was much jubilant on the win which came after five consecutive defeats combining from Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.
