Chicago White Sox defeat Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Friday, April 26 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
The White Sox’s entire roster played wonderfully well and showed their brilliance performance. They dominated throughout the game and won it style.
It was the second straight win for the White Sox in the series. They had already won the first game of the series 5-2.
Now two more games are still to go, but it is very clear that the White Sox will give a tough challenge to the Tampa Bay Rays since their form is quite brilliant.
In Friday’s game, the White Sox’s pitching lineup played very fine. They tossed in good areas and gave no chance to the Rays’ batters to score runs.
"I think in times past you would see some panic with different people around the organization, with different players, I think for this ballclub, for the staff to continually have our backs and to come back and play a little bit better than we have played,"
Jake Peavy said.
On the other hand, it helped the White Sox’s batters as their teammate pitchers provided them a solid ground to go against the Rays’ pitchers.
Peavy added, "Great team win, I think these wins. we fell behind early and we were able to battle back off a guy who was going good, (Hernandez)."
Rays’ pitchers played defensively and that proved one of the losing factors for them as well. From starter to closer, the Rays’ entire roster just could bounce back in the game.
“You take it, It's just one of that's a good feeling when the lineup does that and you get it from guys getting a shot." White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.
Starting pitcher Roberto Hernandez started the game for the Tampa Bay Rays and was hammered by the upfront White Sox’s hitters. He allowed five runs and eight hits. He also allowed five earned runs and hit for three homers on 5.28 ERA. Though he was able
to strike out five White Sox’s hitters, but it was just not enough for him to save the game for his team.
