Chicago White Sox defeat Texas Rangers 10-0 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox put a winning offence and defence combination on Sunday, August 21 to beat the Texas Rangers 10-0 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
The victory took the White Sox to the three-game series victory by 2-1.
Gavin Floyd unleashed an unplayable pitching spell of eight innings – a complete shut-out, Alex Rios and Brent Lillibridge went for two-run homers to pave the way for a fascinating win for the Chicago White Sox.
It was Brent Lillibridge who won the praise of the White Sox manager. "I think this kid is a very strong kid. I never thought he'd hit 11 because I didn't think he'd have that much opportunity to play," Guillen said. "I'm more impressed the way he helps
us every time we need him. Right field, infield, and first base now."
For the Texas Rangers, it was a disappointing series.
Gavin Floyd started the game with characteristic aggression, barely allowing the Texas Rangers’ hitters any space to open the account. His first inning was a shut-out followed by Derek Holland who also tossed a strong inning, allowing two hits.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the third inning. But once Derek Holland came to throw the third, Brent Lillibridge had the first homer of the night, making it 2-0 for the Rangers.
Alejandro De Aza followed with a two-run double in the 3-hit four-run third inning, giving the White Sox a 4-0 lead. With Gavin Floyd rendering the Texas Rangers’ offence unable to score, the White Sox hitters played their part rather more powerfully.
Paul Konerko had a single to right in the fifth to take the lead to 5-0, while Juan Pierre had a two-run single to left in the fifth to have 7-0 edge for the Chicago White Sox by the end of the inning. The Rangers’ offence in the meanwhile remained seemingly
inactive.
As Gavin Floyd pitched the eighth, the lead remained intact for the Texas Rangers. With Scott Feldman on the mound to pitch for the White Sox, Alex Rios had a homer in the eighth and Alejandro De Aza drove in another single to take up the lead to 10-0.
The Chicago White Sox starter Jason Frasor pitched a shut-out ninth to conclude the game with 10-0 victory for the White Sox, also winning the series by 2-1.
The White Sox put in a tremendous effort as they managed to restrict the Rangers from scoring any runs throughout the game. The Rangers will be looking to improve their performance in the next series they face. Chicago earned an amazing victory against the
Rangers 10-0.
