Chicago White Sox defeated by Chicago Cubs 3-12 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated by Chicago Cubs 3-12 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 18 at U.S. Cellular Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
This was the first time since the beginning of 2012 season that the White Sox lost to Cubs with this big margin.
The White Sox played poorly from start of the game and struggled towards the end of the game.
Starter Zach Stewart was the one man who literally gave the game away with his lame outing. He pitched 5.2 innings and gave six runs, nine hits and six earned runs as his ERA rose to 6.00.
Later relief pitcher Will Ohman came to rescue Stewart but he too could not stop the Cubs’ momentum. He was hit with two runs, one hit along with two earned runs. He pitched only 0.2 innings as his ERA rose to 5.96.
Closer Nate Jones was also hammered with five hits, four runs and four earned runs while he was the only White Sox’s pitcher who tried to control his ERA which was remained consistent at 3.21.
On the other hand, the Cubs’ not only pitched well but they also batted tremendously.
“One way or another, depending on what we do at first base, I think LaHair's going to be out there quite a bit with DeJesus in center field against right-handed pitchers, That was obviously, no doubt, our best offensive production of the year -- slugging percentage, quality at-bats, hitting the fastball, taking advantage of all the mistakes they made throughout the whole lineup, I think everybody had a pretty good day today, one way or another." Cubs manager Dale Sveum said in detail.
The Cubs starter Matt Garza was exceptional on the mound as he pitched six innings and received only three runs and three earned runs.
Cubs’ batting offence also provided them with certain stability. Short stop Starlin Castro made three runs along with three hits and two RBIs. He looked confident on his five at bats and in the end proved a key winning factor for the Cubs.
