Chicago White Sox defeated by Minnesota Twins 1-4 – MLB Update
The Chicago White Sox were defeated by Minnesota Twins 1-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 25 at Target Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Twins, who have recently won series against the Cincinnati Reds 2-1, are playing well and proving their offensive prowess.
Francisco Liriano played competitively and earned a great victory for his team. He pitched seven innings and allowed only one run on four hits. He also gave one earned run and struck-out five batters with persistent 5.30 ERA.
Jake Peavy on the other hand, despite doing well could not save the game for his team.
"We haven't scored a whole lot, but that's no excuse. You have to find ways to be better. We stayed in it, but Liriano was too good." Peavy said.
Later, White Sox manager Robin Ventura commented about his team’s poor performance and different aspects which created so much difficulty for them to match the Twins’ brilliance.
"If you go up and just try to hit home runs, that's probably where he's at right now," Ventura said.
Twins, from start of the game, dominated the White Sox poor defence and slowly but steadily won the contest.
They went early into lead in the first inning while strengthening it with three runs in the second inning.
On the other hand, the White Sox, who played defensive throughout the game, never came close and scored only one run which certainly was not enough as they eventually lost the match.
"I had to bear down a few times and get my mind right, focus when I was on the field, Once I did that, I actually kind of had fun. It wasn't fun that we lost, but it was kind of enjoyable to be around new teammates and a new environment." Kevin Youkilis.
However, the White Sox are still feeling comfortable and showing right kind of positive attitude towards post season qualification. Certainly this performance against the Twins was not as brilliant as they have been playing from start of the 2012 season, but experts believe that the White Sox will make a potential comeback in the very next game.
