Chicago White Sox discussing extension with Chris Sale – MLB Update
News is coming that the Chicago White Sox management is potentially in contact with starting pitcher Chris Sale and his agent for a possible contract extension.
“We’ve been kind of back and forth but nothing too crazy right now,” Sale said Tuesday when asked about extension talks.
Sale is an experienced campaigner and knows his game quite well. He was exceptional in the last Major League Baseball season playing for the White Sox in his third straight year.
He showed good commitment and went blistering achieving 3.05 ERA along with 17-8 win loss, 192 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP.
Seeing his last year’s tremendous performance and consistency, the All Star is now getting the management’s attention for a possible extension in his current contract.
Recently Sale made his Spring Training debut with White Sox and did very well.
“Absolutely. It’s an honor,” Sale said and explained in the media with confidence “Throwing Opening Day, just the excitement that goes into Opening Day. I was a kid in the candy shop the last couple Opening Days [just watching], so to actually be playing
would mean the world to me.”
Experts believe that White Sox and Sale’s potential extension talks will be successful. Currently the White Sox are in good condition having some experienced starters, but if they do able to extend Chris Sale’s contract, their starting lineup will be stronger
for few more years.
Currently the White Sox have three world class pitchers including Jake Peavy, John Danks and Gavin Floyd. All these three players possess large major league experience and know their game well.
Peavy played tremendously last season achieving 3.37 ERA along with 11-12 win loss, 194 strikeouts and 1.10 WHIP. He also carries a career ERA of 3.46 along with 120-93 win loss, 1748 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP.
John Danks also did well on the mound achieving 5.70 ERA along with 3-4 win loss, 30 strikeouts and 1.49 WHIP. Overall his career numbers are also consistent at 4.12 ERA along with 57-60 win loss, 744 strikeouts and 1.31 WHIP.
Gavin Floyd also played well and achieved 4.29 ERA along with 12-11 win loss, 144 strikeouts and 1.36 WHIP.
