Chicago White Sox edge Minnesota Twins 5-3 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox edge past Minnesota Twins 5-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
White Sox went early into the lead and never showed any loop-holes in their game. They kept the Twins under pressure and won in style. White Sox’s upfront batting line-up played wonderfully and showed their true class.
Third baseman Kevin Youkilis scored one run on his four at-bats while he maintained his slugging percentage at .432.
Adam Dunn came to bat three times and scored one run on two hits. He played aggressive on his at-bats as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .488.
Designated hitter Paul Konerko played well and scored one run and smashed one hit along with three RBIs on his three at-bats. He played according to the plan and remained consistent on his .497 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the White Sox’s pitchers also played well and defeated the Twins with big force.
Francisco Liriano pitched seven innings and allowed two runs and one hit. He struck-out nine and received one homer on his 5.24 ERA.
"My last three starts, I didn't feel like I did my job, but you've got to keep fighting, Today I felt like I did my job," said Liriano.
"He seemed like he was more under control, he wasn't as jumpy, he wasn't as quick, It looked like he slowed it down a little bit. He pitched really well. I was happy for him to come back here do that. He had a great slider and a great changeup," Chicago catcher A.J. Pierzynski said.
Later White Sox manager Robin Ventura said, “He just looked like he had a lot of confidence out there, just throwing strikes, His stuff moves all over the place.”
Relief pitcher Jesse Crain also played well and did not allow any run or hit on his 2.59 ERA. He struck-out two and did very well on the mound in his one inning spell.
Closer Addison Reed allowed only one run and one hit on his 4.91 ERA which eventually proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
