Chicago White Sox lose to Texas Rangers 3-2 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox were defeated by Texas Rangers 3-2 at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Friday, April6 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball. The White Sox, who ended their Spring Training on a positive note, were unable to convert some easy scoring opportunities in their opening game on Friday night.
The Rangers, on the other hand, took complete advantage of Chicago’s unforced errors to clinch an important win. Texas, who is considered as one of the strongest teams in MLB, will be hoping to give similar performances throughout the season to make it to the playoffs.
Although the two time American League defending champions did not have the best of times during Spring Training Session, they certainly did not seem to be affected by their poor performances in a high competitive clash against Chicago.
Ian Kinsler, who agreed to a long term contract with the Rangers, had a great time on the plate as he homered to help his team take the lead. He later added a double and scored twice in Rangers’ 3-2 win over the White Sox.
"You come in here and you play for your teammates, you don't play for yourself. This is a very selfless team," Kinsler said. "That's something outside the clubhouse. ... My main focus is to play hard for my teammates and do what I can to win a game."
"We knew it we'd chip away and push one more run across, we'd have a chance to win,” Michael Young said.
Texas’ fans were extremely disappointed after their team failed to win the World Series finals last season. Losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in best of seven games finals, the Rangers will consider themselves a bit unlucky. However, they opened their 2012 regular season in an emphatic fashion.
Manager Ron Washington will be very pleased to see a fighting effort from his team. Colby Lewis earned his first win of the season as he struck one nine in his first start. The relievers also made useful contributions, pitching scoreless innings. Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth inning in his first regular season outing.
