Chicago White Sox edge Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox edge past the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 in the final game of their four match regular series encounter on Thursday, August 16 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
White Sox once again showed their class and earned a great victory. A decent combination of pitching and hitting for the White Sox proved too good for the Blue Jays.
Francisco Liriano led the White Sox’s offence and eventually came out victorious from the Blue Jays’ home field.
He pitched 6.1 innings and received three hits, two runs on his 5.22 ERA. He retired six batters as well.
Along with pitchers, the White Sox hitters also played very well and contributed a great deal in their team’s win over the Blue Jays.
Left fielder Dewayne Wise added one run and smashed a hit on his .538 slugging percentage.
He remained calm on the plate on his five at-bats and proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
On the other hand, the Blue Jays’ could not show their natural style game-play and eventually lost with bitter humiliation.
Starting pitcher Aaron Laffey pitched six innings and allowed three runs on three hits. He retired five hitters but at the same time he was hammered with three homers.
"For me personally, I get done and I'm sitting there and it feels like I just gave up 10 runs, Regardless of how many runs I gave up, how many hits,” Laffey said.
Laffey added, “I only gave up three hits, they were big hits but at least there was no one on base, So, I eliminated that factor of it, didn't give up any multi-run homers. I felt good, after the first inning I got into a pretty good groove and I don't think I threw out of the stretch after the first inning, so that's a pretty good sign as well."
Relief pitcher Darren Oliver also received three runs on two hits while he was also hammered with a homer as his ERA remained at 1.87.
