Chicago White Sox edge past Detroit Tigers 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Saturday, May 5 at Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan and levelled their three-game series 1-1 in ongoing 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Designated hitter Adam Dunn provided a solid hitting combination giving his team a tremendous win over the struggling Tigers who especially lost the composure in the ninth innings.
Dunn hit a two run shot in the right field in the ninth innings and helped his team to clinch the game in finals moments where they were trailing two runs.
Not only Adam Dunn’s tremendous play provided the White Sox a good victory, but he also provided his team with a good chance to take the series away when both teams will be playing their final game on Sunday, May 2.
“We needed to win this game today," Dunn said with confidence. "I definitely didn't want to chase anything -- just got a pitch that I could get in the air and it happened to go out. It's good, This is kind of what I expect to do.”
The Tigers’ closer Jose Valverde indeed pitched some waivered deliveries and gave Dunn an opportunity to hit him long in the right field.
"Last year is over," Valverde said. "The closer, everybody knows, it's not easy. One pitch can be the game, like it was today. Adam Dunn got it."
On the other hand, the White Sox starter Gavin Floyd did very well on the mound and retired 12 Tigers batters. He pitched seven innings and allowed two runs including seven hits.
"Last year is over," Valverde said. "The closer, everybody knows, it's not easy. One pitch can be the game, like it was today. Adam Dunn got it."
At start of the game, the Tigers took the early lead in the second innings and built the lead slight further to two runs.
Later in the game, the White Sox never allowed more loop holes and Tigers remained scoreless and lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
Now the series is levelled and decisive game will be played on Sunday, May 6.
