Chicago White Sox edge past New York Yankees 4-3 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox edge past the New York Yankees 4-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter Thursday, June 28 at Yankee Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Dayan Viciedo's three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning proved decisive for the White Sox as they escaped with a narrow victory.
"Anything in the vicinity, that's what I was thinking." said Viciedo
Later White Sox manager Robin Ventura said about his team’s great win and also commented on some different aspects of his players intentions towards performing well in the competition, “We got the one break, and he jumped on it, It's one thing for him to go through that lineup once, but once it turns over three, four times, it's tough, It's a relentless group that takes pitches, sits on pitches. I thought he threw great. He's going to hit one to right. Just don't give him something he can do it with, You don't like him coming up at the end of a game. I've seen it too much."
The Yankees could have won when they put enormous pressure on the White Sox in the first five innings, but later Chicago started a great run and finally won in style.
White Sox entire rotation pitched well and never allowed the Yankees to take control of the game.
Dylan Axelrod pitched six innings and received two runs on six hits. He also received two earned runs and struck-out four batters as his ERA remained consistent at 4.05.
Reliever Hector Santiago also pitched well and received one run on one hit while his ERA also remained persistent at 4.61.
Addison Reed pitched all important last inning and went scoreless and literally won the game for the White Sox.
On the other hand, the Yankees’ pitchers played well but they still could not match the White Sox brilliance and lost in the end.
Experts say that it is still early to predict anything about the series result between the Yankees and the White Sox, but many do believe that the way White Sox have played the first game, it is very likely that they will also win the series.
