Chicago White Sox first-baseman Adam Dunn shows early signs of brilliance – MLB News
As expected, the Chicago White Sox first-baseman Adam Dunn started-off with a brilliant performance on Friday against the Texas Rangers as he hit a tremendous 430-foot homer delighting his teammates and management who at start of the season have already predicted that their veteran experienced first baseman will show his best game in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Dunn stated in the media after the game with pure joy explaining slight details as how he was able to improvise at the right time and at the right situation. He said, “It’s not one of the records I really chase after. It would have been sweeter if we had pulled out the win. Any time you hold whatever [record] it is, that’s cool when you retire and look back. You don’t think about accomplishments now.”
He added, “It didn’t even cross my mind, but it’s Opening Day, you’re pretty tight, and you’re trying to do something, the thing I was happy about was I kept with my approach that I’ve been keeping all spring. Just probably doing a few different drills [in the cage], as opposed to flips and stuff like that.”
White Sox manager Robin Ventura also appreciated Dunn’s late performance and stated in the media that this is a good sign for the team as his player showed early thrust which will automatically enhance the overall results of franchise in the near future.
Dunn was coming into 2012 season with a career batting average of .244 along with 366 home-runs, 923 RBIs and .374 OBP while his current batting average of .400 will further increase as the season progresses.
In the meanwhile, the White Sox manager Robin Ventura and general manager Kenny Williams are watching closely all the proceedings and waiting for the right moment where they will try to implement the late offensive strategy which they have prepared to tackle unnecessary complex situations.
Last season, the White Sox management lacked at any alternative strategy to deal with any particular worse situation and due to this weakness at game-approach level, the South Chicago baseball team could not perform up-to the expectations.
