Chicago White Sox hammer Cleveland Indians 8-1 – MLB Recap

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 8-1 on Wednesday, May 9 at Progressive Field, Cleveland in their final game of four-match regular series encounter of 2012 Major League Baseball season, avoiding the bitter humiliation of losing the series.

Tying the series 2-2, the White Sox have now also improved their winning percentage of .469 in American League Central.

Starting pitcher Jake Peavy provided a perfect platform for the White Sox to carve further the intriguing dominance on Cleveland players.

He pitched well in seven innings allowing seven hits along with one run, one earned run and five strike-outs.

"I had great stuff, It wasn't an easy start by any means, but to have a start where you can be aggressive and throw a lot of strikes and not have to really work hard was nice. If you could draw it up like that for all 30-some starts, it would be a perfect world."
said Peavy.

He added “It was good to come back with these two wins after losing the doubleheader. You have to beat the team in first place in your division. I tried to get in front of it; I kind of got it right in the chest.”

Designated hitter Adam Dunn also provided a key homer in the very first innings which put the Indians on back-foot early in the game. The White Sox took an early lead of two runs in the first and extended this lead to eight in the fourth where six more runs
were added in their score tally.

The Indians at this time already knew that the game has already slipped away from them. Though they tried to bounce back in the seventh inning, but with only a single-run addition, it was not enough for them to compete the next three innings falling short in
the end.

Certainly Jake Peavy was the real magician behind the Indians demise as he once again proved that he is one of the best pitchers in the White Sox rotation. While he is also hoping that the very next series against the Kansas City Royals will also give him the
chance to prove his game for his franchise as well as for his own game.
