Chicago White Sox hammer Kansas City Royals 3-2 – MLB Recap
Chicago White Sox hammered the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 18 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Gavin Floyd showed his class and helped the White Sox to oust the Royals with style. He pitched accurately during his entire spell and never let the Royals’ batters to dominate. He kept them under pressure and proved too good in the end.
Floyd pitched seven solid innings and received two runs and five hits. He struck-out three and maintained his 4.50 ERA with enormous energy.
"I felt good out there, I just wanted to make as few pitches out there and let the defense work. It's great especially after sitting for 15 days and more than that before. It's nice to get back out there and just be part of the team and contribute," White Sox’s starter told the media on his brilliant start which rattled the Royals in a big way.
Floyd explained his team’s overall chances to play in the post season and also told the media that White Sox have a fair chance to become World Series Champions as he added, "We're no way content, We're content in the place that we are, but there's still a lot of baseball left. It's fun to be in the position we're at. We've just got to keep pushing."
The White Sox batters also did well on the plate. They played with intelligence and defeated the Royals with quite ease.
Alejandro De Aza batted four times and scored one run and smashed two hits along with an RBI. He hammered the Royals’ pitchers with big force on his consistent .399 slugging percentage.
Experienced and reliable right fielder Alex Rios showed once again a good performance. He scored one run and smashed one hit along with an RBI. He batted three times and maintained his slugging percentage at .517.
Royals’ pitchers however, did not play well and lost the game. Especially their starter Luke Hochevar was hammered with big hits. He received three runs along with three homers and seven hits on his 5.40 ERA.
