Chicago White Sox hammer Minnesota Twins 4-3 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox hammered the Minnesota Twins 4-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 31 at Target Field in Minnesota.
Francisco Liriano pitched well for the White Sox and helped his team to oust the Twins in style.
He pitched six innings and allowed two runs and four hits while he also allowed two earned runs and struck-out eight Twins’ hitters.
"It was weird the first couple innings, After that, it was another game to me and just make my pitches and do my job. It was weird, but I had to forget about that. I was excited, probably overthrowing the first two innings. I calmed myself down and tried to do my job and be part of the team and enjoy myself," Liriano said after the game with much confidence and told the media about his consistent outing.
He looked aggressive in the field and maintained his 5.18 ERA. Later the White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko also appreciated Liriano’s pitching and said, "He threw the ball, he was throwing 95 mph, The stuff is obviously there. What he took out there tonight, more times than not, we will score some runs and make it a little bit easier for him."
Relief pitcher Jesse Crain also played well and received only one hit as his ERA of 2.42 remained quite consistent in his one inning spell.
Closer Addison Reed also proved his valour as he pitched one inning and allowed two hits, one run and one earned run on his 4.14 ERA.
On the other hand, the Twins starting rotation did not play sensibly and lost in the end. Nick Blackburn pitched eight innings and allowed two runs and five hits while he also allowed two earned runs. He was only able strike-out two White Sox batters on his 7.43 ERA.
Relief pitcher Jeff Gray could have played much better but was unable to perform against the White Sox hitters and allowed two runs and two hits along with two earned runs as well as his ERA rose to 5.62.
