Chicago White Sox hammer New York Mets 6-3 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox hammered the New York Mets 6-3 in the second game of their two-match regular series encounter on Thursday, May 8 at Citi Field in New York.
With this particular win the, the White Sox were also able to level the series 1-1 as Mets had won the game won.
"When you start a game like that, everybody seems to follow the leader. And that's what we've got to do, I think we're going to get out of this funk sooner than later," Alex Rios said.
In Thursday’s game, the White Sox showed brilliant performance and won the game in style. They played as one unit and rattled the Mets with great force.
“I knew it was coming, That's why when I caught the ball I kind of braced myself," Dewayne Wise said.
White Sox’s batters and pitchers played attacking throughout the game and won the game with quite ease. Especially their upfront pitchers dominated the Mets attacking barters and never gave them any chance to score on consistent bases.
Jake Peavy started the game for the White Sox and allowed only one run on three hits. He pitched 6.2 innings and allowed one earned run on 3.03 ERA. He struck out six and remained confident on the mound.
"Tried to bear down from the start, Made enough good pitches, defense was outstanding -- and that's what we did last year. Big win, We needed to come back and win after what happened last night. Good for the boys to respond," Jake Peavy said after the game.
Relief pitcher Matt Thornton pitched 0.1 inning and allowed only one run on two hits as he also remained consistent on 2.61 ERA.
Addison Reed pitched one inning and received three hits and allowed one run on 2.81 ERA. He struck out three while also contributed greatly in his team’s win against the Mets.
On the other hand, the Mets starter Jeremy Hefner pitched six innings and allowed four runs and eight hits. Though he struck out five but his ERA rose to 4.53 which proved lethal for the Mets.
