Chicago White Sox hammer Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox hammered the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, August 15 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
White Sox’s entire roster played well and earned a great victory. They played as one unit and never allowed any loop-holes in their game.
Scoring early in the game, the White Sox kept the momentum going and won in the end.
"The goal is to win every series and with a win tonight we can put ourselves in that position tomorrow," Dunn said.
Their starting rotation showed a balanced game in which they allowed only five runs in total. Gavin Floyd started the game for the White Sox and allowed four runs on eight hits. He retired eight Blue Jays’ batters on his 4.43 ERA.
"The only thing I remember is coming out of the bullpen last year and getting a loss. I don't really remember too much other than that. I just try to live in the present. Whether you win or lose, everything else is in the past. You've just got to focus on the present,” Floyd said on his performance.
Floyd added, "A.J. kind of joked 'We'll get them back,' and shoot, It's exciting. This team, offensively and even pitching, we can battle with the best of them."
Relief pitcher Donnie Veal also showed a good performance as he retired three Blue Jays’ hitters in his two innings.
Closer Philip Humber pitched one inning for the White Sox and allowed one run and one hit on his 5.90 ERA. He struck-out two hitters and smashed for a homer as well.
On the other hand, the Blue Jays tried three pitchers and still could not save the game against the White Sox.
Ricky Romero pitched six innings but he allowed too many runs. He received eight hits and six runs along with a homer on his rising 5.47 ERA.
Relief pitcher Brad Lincoln also pitched poorly as he allowed three runs and three hits on his 6.00 ERA. He struck-out three but at the same time was smashed for two homers in his two innings spell.
