Chicago White Sox looking to thwart the Minnesota Twins
The action is going to pick up in Major League Baseball soon as teams ranging from both the National League and the American League will build on their preparation for the regular league season in spring training. With less than a month left, clubs are enjoying
a time out with the supporters in fan fests. The objective of the phase out session deals with picking up excitement and pushing the positive energy into April.
The Chicago White Sox have been looking to place themselves in the play-offs for a long time now and with manager Ozzie Guillen leading the roster for the straight 8th season, expectations are riding high on the future of the club. Guillen has
been given the orders to lead the team in 2012 and that speaks volumes about the club’s strategy. The view of many fans during the fan fest event was that they’re sick of seeing the Minnesota Twins claim the throne in the last two years.
The club faces a possibility that the Twins will creep up again and take the crown. The management has voiced its frustration on that possibility and the club’s president, Jerry Reinsdorf, was able to talk about the rivals in gist.
"They never had a great bunch of players on paper. They always played the game right," Reinsdorf said of the Twins. "That's why Ozzie always called them the piranhas because they did things right. It was always hard for me to hate the Twins because they
had great people. Their ownership, they always had players who played the game the way it's supposed to be played. I think this (White Sox) team is going to be that type of team."
General Manager Ken Williams was also able to talk of the Twins and he did so without actually pointing the finger. The White Sox will be looking to beat Minnesota in their own game when the regular season kicks off.
"We've had a lot of good teams here and I think there are a couple of division championship flags flying in a couple other ballparks, one in particular but I'm tired of mentioning their name, that belong to us," said Williams, speaking on the Twins without
directly referring to them. "But we didn't go and get it. We didn't go out and take it. I guess I'm a little reserved in whatever excitement I should have at this point. I hope the fans aren't because I have to figure out a way to pay for this."
