Chicago White Sox lose to Baltimore Orioles 10-4 – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox lost to Baltimore Orioles 10-4 at the U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Monday, April 16 in their regular season clash of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
White Sox will be very disappointed with the outcome of the game. They had several opportunities to shut out their opponents but they were unable to make those opportunities count.
Chicago had an absolutely horrible time in front of their home crowd last season, losing 45 out of 81 games at the U.S. Cellular Field. Their record for this season was damaged to 2-2 after they lost to Baltimore in a dramatic fashion.
White Sox led 4-1 in the seventh inning and it seemed as if they will cruise to an easy victory. However, they had to pay a heavy price for the opportunities the missed. It will be interesting to see if the White Sox can bounce back from a demoralising defeat.
Orioles, on the other hand, will be proud at the way they held their nerves in pressure situations, hitting three home runs in the ninth and the tenth inning. Matt Wieters displayed some high quality batting skills as he homered twice for his team. One of his homers was a tenth inning grand slam that changed the complexion of the game.
"The way I look at it is how he bounces back," first-year White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "I have confidence in him to take him out there and let him do it again tomorrow night."
"Jake was the difference," Showalter said. "(His outing) will be forgotten, but he was outstanding. It's very encouraging the way he pitched again tonight."
"It has kind of a snowball effect," Wieters said. "Once you get some runs going, you stop squeezing the bat as tight and it starts to come a little bit easier."
Baltimore has looked in decent form since the start of this season. With six wins in ten games, they have given their fans a lot to cheer about but the Orioles will be eager to bring more consistency to their game play.
