Chicago White Sox lose to Minnesota Twins 2-9 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox hammered by the Minnesota Twins 2-9 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, May 22 at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Twins starter P.J. Walters excelled and rout the White Sox’s batting offence with enormous power. He remained confident in the entire game throwing nine innings with full force and clinched the game for the Twins.
In his nine innings on the mound, he went with five hits and only two runs. Striking out eight White Sox hitters, Walters maintained a steady 2.95 ERA and proved the winning factor for his team.
"The goal of the night is to always keep them out of there, To have yesterday off and then the day off, that's good rest for a few of them. (My changeup) was a good pitch for me early in the game, My breaking ball got better for me later in the game, so I used it more at the end. "Walters said with confidence on his great outing."
Later the Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said on his team’s combined effort, "My bullpen was smiling when they came in shaking hands. We haven't seen that very much around here, (Walters) ate up a whole ballgame's worth of innings, which really helps your bullpen out.”
On the other hand, the White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd was not looked confident on the mound as he was hammered with nine crucial runs and eight hits. He literally was the worst performer of the White Sox roster with no composure and accuracy in his throws.
The game started with Beckham’s homer to left field, but this was the only run White Sox were able to score until ninth when the second score was added by Paul Konerko.
However, the Twins were more diligent as they score nine runs on consistent bases and eventually won the game in bottom ninth with a big margin of 9-2.
Though this win has not changed the Twins position in the American League West, but still this win has given them a big morale boost.
