Chicago White Sox lose to New York Yankees 2-4 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox lost to New York Yankees 2-4 in the final and fourth game of their four-game regular series encounter on Sunday, July 1 at Yankee Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Yankees’ bounced back in the last two games and stopped the White Sox from taking the series. The very first two games of the series were won by the White Sox, but it is the true class of Yankees’ who came back in style and levelled the four-game encounter 2-2.
Yankees played combined on Sunday. They played as one unit and never showed any loop-holes in their game which could have made their position in trouble. Instead they all played intelligently and slowly won in the end.
Phil Hughes’ brilliant pitching and Robinson Cano’s tremendous batting helped the Yankees win the game.
Cano made two RBIs and one run on his four at-bats. While Hughes pitched eight innings and allowed just two run and six hits. He also received two earned runs and struck-out eight batters.
“He was throwing strikes, working quick, It was good for us because it was hot out there. He was in control the entire game." Yankees' short-stop and skipper Derek Jeter said of Hughes with confidence.
Later Yankees' manager Joe Girardi commented on his team’s combined effort and said, "Sometimes they're not going to have their best stuff and they got to figure out a way to get through it, And that's also a process, figuring out how to get through things. And today he did. That's a good sign."
White Sox manager Robin Ventura was disappointed on his team’s defeat as he said in the media, "Even though they got him a couple of times, he still pitched well, He battled, got out of some tough spots, even in the first. We just couldn't mount anything after that first inning."
Both Yankees and White Sox are struggling at the moment to retain their winning momentum, but according to some experts both teams are certainly competing for a potential post-season spot which makes the 2012 Major League Baseball season more thrilling.
