Chicago White Sox lose to St. Louis Cardinals 0-1 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox lost to St. Louis Cardinals 0-1 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 13 at Busch Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Lance Lynn played a key role in the Cardinals win as he retired 12 batters in his 7.1 innings’ spell receiving only three hits.
"Every time I go out there I think like it's 0-0, whatever inning it is and whoever's up. You don't want to give up a hit ever, or a run ever, I was able to keep them off the board. I knew they had it, It was a little interesting, but it was fun." Lynn said
with confidence.
The Cardinals from start of the game kept their opponents under pressure and never gave them any chance to dominate on their offence which eventually proved a winning factor in the end.
On the other hand, the Jake Peavy despite showing some resistance early in the game also could not save the game for the White Sox.
He pitched seven innings and received only one run. Striking out six Cardinals’ batters, Peavy also maintained his 2.91 ERA.
"I had some kind of concoction that got me through the night, I had to throttle back and maybe that helped me a little bit mechanically. They were aggressive and they were swinging and we got some quick outs. It just wasn't meant to be tonight." Peavy said
for his particular outing which despite having good pace in it could not give much trouble to the Cardinals batters.
In the meanwhile, with this wine the Cardinals have strengthened their position in the National League Central. They are currently holding a decent third position with 32-31 win loss and .508 winning percentage.
On the other hand, the White Sox, despite losing this game as well as the series, still leading the American League Central with 34-28 win loss and .548 winning percentage.
These recent defeats have given them some alarm to change their offensive strategy which now is not giving them much help against some of the tougher rivals.
