Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen offers comments after humiliating defeat – MLB News
Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was available today to comment on his team’s performance against the regional leaders and he was not happy. The White Sox are eight and a half wins behind the American League Central leaders, Detroit Tigers. If they
want to enter the post season campaign, there will have to be a lot of improvement for the team.
The skipper witnessed his squad take a humiliating beating from the Detroit Tigers. Much to his displeasure, Mark Buehrle suffered the most from the Chicago team. The veteran pitcher has been economical this season but his run in the recent game changed
dramatically as the hurler ended his day with 3.1 innings of pitching and seven runs allowed.
The player was smashed around the park and his 10 hits earned added to another 14 from the bullpen to amount to 24, the highest number of hits delivered by Detroit, this season. Comparing the two teams, Guillen knew which team lacked the intensity and focus.
On his team’s performance, he was utterly embarrassed.
"Very disappointing," Ozzie Guillen said. "I thought we were going to play better here. All the players will say the same stuff. But this weekend is over with. You have to come back and keep playing tomorrow."
The White Sox lost all their three games to the Tigers in the recent series. He was rather depressed over Shane Lindsay’s rule as the rookie was forced to play in the encounter due to a double header game scheduled for Monday against the Minnesota Twins.
"We don't want to put the kid through it, but we have to do it," said Guillen. "We have to do it because if we don't, our choices weren't good ones."
The youngster earned seven runs off eight hits in a single, sixth inning. Nevertheless, the skipper has not lost hope and he has all but given up hope at the moment.
"I'm not going to give up or give in. Hopefully, we leave here and we play better," Guillen remarked. "But we put ourselves in a very, very, very tough position."
The White Sox have a lot of wins to bring up if they have any hopes of reaching the post season. For now, the team will be thinking about fixing their weaknesses.
