Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura finishes 3rd in AL Manager of the Year voting
Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura finished overall third in American League Manager of the Year voting after a spirited 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Coming as White Sox’s manager with no prior managerial experience, the former White Sox’s professional baseball player Ventura showed his true commitment and proved his valour by giving his best abilities.
Even putting his everything into managing the White Sox, Ventura still finished behind Bob Melvin and Buck Showalter in AL Manager of the Year award.
“I want to congratulate Bob Melvin on winning the award, Bob and Buck (Showalter) did great jobs this season and both really were deserving. For me to be considered for this award, especially in my first season, is a great honor but really it’s more of a
reflection on the players and coaches,” Ventura said in a statement released by the White Sox in which he explained about all the recent development.
He added with confidence, “They put in the hard work from day one of spring training until the last out of the season and made my job easier.”
New York's Nick Swisher said in August for Ventura, "It seems like he's got them all nice and laid back, which is very different than what it was before.”
Despite finishing third in American League, Ventura still proved his point of bringing a new offensive strategy into the franchise. He was brought in by the top management just to give little stability to the White Sox pitching rotation.
At start of 2012 Major League season, the White Sox struggled with their starters. As Mark Buehrle joined the Miami Marlins, the White Sox left with no major starters in the roster.
However, the new White Sox new manager Ventura gave enough confidence to Jake Peavy to start a new beginning with the side and he did exactly what was being asked for.
It was Ventura, who rebuilt the White Sox entire roster and made them ready for every new challenge.
With the help of Ventura, the White Sox finished overall second in American League Central behind Detroit Tigers with 85 wins and 77 losses along with .525 winning percentage.
