Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura gets ready for another long season – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura is not an experienced campaigner when it comes to managing any Major League team. He came as rookie skipper when the Chicago White Sox top executives brought him to stabilise the situation for better results.
He, on the other end, did exactly what was expected from him and showed enormous progress bringing consistent results for the White Sox. According to sources, when Ventura joined the White Sox last season, he brought a lot of advice from two of the most coveted Major League managers, the former Los Angeles Dodgers' skipper Tommy Lasorda and Joe Torre.
Both showed enormous confident on Ventura and described him best for the White Sox for next potential seasons.
“Before the season, I told him, ‘Take a picture now. Then I want to take a picture of you when the season is over, and it’s going to be a big difference. If you don’t win it’s a big difference,” Lasorda said as he explained about Ventura.
Lasorda said, “When I was a manager, I would walk the streets until 3 o'clock in the morning, A lot of times I wouldn’t take the bus after we lost afraid I would attack some of those players. But here I am walking the streets at 3 o’clock in the morning and they’re out dancing somewhere. That doesn’t go together.”
Under Ventura, the White Sox went with 85-77 win-loss along with .525 winning percentage is a great record any manager in the Major League who was just starting his managerial career.
Not only the good overall results, but Robin Ventura also implemented some of the great strategies which latter proved very beneficial for the White Sox. He totally changed White Sox’s defensive approach and brought much developed aggressive game plan which certainly worked well for the entire roster and the team showed consistent results as well.
Many believe that the White Sox could have reached the post-season but even to finish second in the American League Central behind the Detroit Tigers was still a great record and was also appreciated by many in the top league.
