The Chicago White Sox new manager Robin Ventura is playing his cards quite carefully in this ongoing Major League Baseball season and lately receiving lots of appreciation from many experts regarding his new and annotative offensive strategies which certainly will create an opening for them in order to achieve the post season qualification after the mid season break.
Ventura, who arrived with the full support of White Sox general manager Kenny Williams, knows the level of intensity the ongoing competition has. His team and more importantly his current active roster is playing somewhat an aggressive game. The starting rotation is also playing a key role in team’s early wins in the season.
However, the White Sox are not the same team which featured in the last MLB season, but with some new players and inexperienced pitchers, the 2012 season is giving some troubles regarding the accurate pitching balance especially in team’s overall results.
The same situation was witnessed by many when the White Sox rookie closing pitcher Hector Santiago could not hold the perfect accuracy on which he was hammered by the Oakland Athletics’ batting line-up with total five hits and two run tying homer.
Not only this throwing session put Hector Santiago in enormous pressure, but it was also very hard for the White Sox who lost the game 5-4.
On the other hand, despite being not up-to the mark on the mound, Ventura did not say anything heated for Santiago; instead he is still supporting his courage as a young pitcher, who has enormous amount of energy to learn the game up-to perfection.
Ventura said for Hector, “I watched video to see if I was tipping anything, The location was fine. Just seeing it out of my hand and where I threw it, he might have caught it right out of my hand.”
He added, “Right now I’m trying to get out of the zone a bit, I’m a little too much in the zone with all my pitches, getting too much plate. I’m ahead in the count, trying to throw strikes still. Ahead in the count, I have to get somebody to chase something.”
Experts say that this is a healthy sign for the White Sox as their manager is supporting youngsters like Hector Santiago who are still in their very early days of professional baseball career.
