Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura supports Hector Santiago as relief pitcher – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura is supporting Hector Santiago as team’s relief pitcher in the ongoing Major League Baseball season.
Santiago did not perform well against the Baltimore Orioles as he gave two home runs which proved ultimate for the Orioles who defeated the White Sox 10-4 in the end of a thrilling three match regular series on Monday evening.
After the game White Sox manager Ventura explained regarding his pitcher’s performance saying, "You look back at all the guys that have done it; it’s not the easiest job. But you know, the way I look at it is how he bounces back. I have confidence in taking him right back out there and letting him do it (Tuesday) night."
Regarding Ventura’s statement, many experts also agree with his analysis as Santiago possesses the right kind of abilities to bounce back in the season.
Ventura added for his closer, "I wasn’t expecting Hector to be perfect, but he battled, That’s one of those that’s a tough loss, but we’ll bounce back. It’s one of those I think that you go through a season, you are going to have them every once in a while. You want to turn it around (Tuesday night)."
Santiago is playing his second full season with the White Sox. He is coming with a balanced performance in 2012 Spring Training, but now feels a somewhat extra burden of being part of the team. His Minor League experience with the Winston-Salem Dash and Birmingham Barons has also given him some potential playing time at start of his career.
Earlier during the offseason, the White Sox general manager Kenny Williams was bit reluctant to add Santiago for fresh season however, newly appointed Robin Ventura remained determined to make him play this time around. He had seen Santiago working hard in couple of practice sessions while sources also say that Ventura had also a very lively meeting with all the players including Santiago when he arrived as new White Sox manager.
Currently pitching at 6.75 ERA, Santiago possesses some huge baseball skills and in the coming days he will try his best to unfold his game according to the game plan set by Ventura for him.
