Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura supports Ozzie Guillen’s apology – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox current manager is saying in public that former South Chicago baseball franchise’s manager Ozzie Guillen is sincere in his late apology regarding his comments on Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
Said Ventura for Ozzie, “It's a tough day for him, but he looked sincere and meant it," who played with Guillen from 1989 to 1997. "It's one of those things he will have to get through, and he's a friend so it's not always easy to watch, either."
The current Miami Marlins’ manager Guillen has stated in the media that Castro is commendable and the way he is still in power despite his brother Raul Castro officially ruling the country, is also certainly an appreciative factor of his charismatic personality.
However, as soon as his comments were out in public, the US government and Cubans who are residing in America flared up and demanded immediate action on Guillen’s comments as he should be suspended from his job or at-least suspended from five to ten Major League games.
Later though he apologised and stated that his comments has been misquoted, but still he takes all the responsibility and stating his sincere apologies to all Cubans who are living in Miami and across US as well while the MLB authorities suspended him for five games.
In the meanwhile, now things are slight settling down and Guillen will be coming after five-game suspension as his apology has been accepted.
A little while ago the White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham has also said for Ozzie stating, "I really don't believe he meant any harm in the way he said it. I really think he said it kind of like, 'This guy has been in power for 60 years, and people have been trying to kill him. That's what it sounds like, Sometimes Ozzie will say a little more than he should.”
On the other hand, Ozzie’s comments are certainly significant and have offended many in US. However, some baseball experts and several former players have been also saying constantly in the media that this is also a breach of conduct on freedom of speech in a country like US.
