Chicago White Sox offer salary arbitration to free agent Mark Buehrle – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox management is showing a desperate effort by offering a salary settlement to free agent Mark Buehrle that will eventually compensate them with a draft pick in 2012 if he signs with another team in Major League Baseball.
No official statement has come out in the media on whether Buehrle has accepted or declined it but this is certainly on the cards that he will negotiate before accepting or rejecting the offer.
The White Sox has once again gone the extra mile to convince Buehrle to play for them but this time they played an indirect trick of salary arbitration and even if rejected by Buehrle, they will receive a draft pick.
Earlier, the White Sox management has rejected the same arbitration offer to free agent Juan Pierre as they do not think that he will be worth to sign again.
On the other hand, if Buehrle declines the offer he can still be in very good position to meet other MLB teams. Many inside sources have speculated in the media that Buehrle will likely decline the salary arbitration offer as he is now getting various kinds
of positive vibes for his future with a different MLB team.
Since Buehrle has become a free agent, many teams have already showed their interest in him. Teams like New York Yankees, along with Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets,
Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians are the mainstream teams at the moment and are expressing their interest to sign Buehrle.
From day one, since Buehrle has announced himself as a free agent, he and his agent are looking for the best possible offer and not hurrying for anything.
Buehrle’s agent Jeff Berry even said, “Mark is not going to eliminate any team from free-agent consideration, but having pitched 12 years in the American League, the National League certainly will have some appeal to him. There is no DH. It’s obviously less
of a hitter’s league. And Mark has had great success in his career against the National League.”
However, the latest offer of salary negotiations from the White Sox will determine the future of Mark Buehrle and unfold further as the arbitration time will end soon.
