Chicago White Sox oust Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox ousted the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, August 14 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Blue Jays playing at their home field, hugely disappointed with their performance when they were easily defeated by the White Sox.
Though the Blue Jays came out to play with more confidence as they eased past the White Sox in the first game of the series, but on Tuesday, Chicago proved too good for Toronto and earned a decent victory.
Blue Jays’ starter Henderson Alvarez played poorly as he allowed three runs and seven hits on his 4.48 ERA. He looked tired on the mound and struck-out only two White Sox batters.
"He had more depth to his slider than he's had, I thought he had more separation with the velocity of his changeup and his fastball," Blue Jays' manager John Farrell said of Alvarez.
On the other hand, the White Sox pitchers proved their valour. They performed with a lot of energy and won in the end.
“It was good for us, a big win, I was just happy to piece it together without actually hitting a home run, That's just one of those that's a gift, We'll take it,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.
Especially Jose Quintana did well on the mound as he pitched 6.2 innings and allowed two runs and eight hits on his 2.77 ERA. From start of his spell, he looked confident and finished it with style as well.
“I've got to give Youkilis a lot of credit, It's not what you're expecting, but it's what you're hoping for," Quintana said.
Along with pitchers, the White Sox batters also played and supported each other on every area of play.
Centre fielder Alejandro De Aza played good and earned a great victory for his team.
“When I'm on base, I try for any chance to get to the next base, I took a good, good jump, I read the ball very well. I didn't think there was going to be a play," De Aza said.
He scored one run and smashed a hit on his four at-bats while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .401.
