Chicago White Sox outclass Cleveland Indians 3-1 – MLB Recap
Chicago White Sox outclassed the Cleveland Indians 3-1 on Sunday, April 14 in the last game of their three-match regular series encounter at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Chicago White Sox’s starting pitcher played beautifully and literally won the game for his team. He pitched seven solid innings and received only one run on five hits. He allowed one earned run and struck out eleven Indians batters.
Peavey received one homer and maintained his ERA at 3.93. He looked confident from start of the play as he finished his spell with great offensive power.
“He was just sharp today, It was one of those (games) where he just seemed to be hitting the glove," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said for his starter.
"In this five-game skid, we've had a chance to get that big hit and make that big pitch and we just haven't been able to do it, It's not like we've been getting boat-raced every night," Peavy said.
Peavy added, “It looked like after that first few innings it was going to shake out to be a tight ballgame, as it was, We were fortunate enough to come out on the right side of things."
Not only Peavy, but the White Sox other pitchers also did very well on the mound. Relief pitcher Matt Thornton and Addison Reed showed good commitment with their one inning a piece.
The White Sox hitters also played a wonderful role in their team’s win. Centre fielder Alejandro De Aza scored one run on his single hit. He also ran for an RBI on his .500 slugging percentage.
First baseman Paul Konerko also did a good job on the plate with his one run and two RBIs on his .415 slugging percentage.
Indians pitchers however, seemed low spirited even before the start of play. And when they do come on the mound, they were hammered hard by the White Sox’s hitters.
Brett Myers pitched six innings’ spell. He allowed two runs on six hits. He received two earned runs and one homer on his blistering high 8.82 ERA.
Closer Vinnie Pestano also disappointed with his single inning as he allowed one run and two hits along with a homer on 2.25 ERA.
