Chicago White Sox outdo Cleveland Indians 5-4 – MLB Recap
Chicago White Sox defeated Cleveland Indians 5-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, September 24 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
White Sox’s entire roster did well in the field and earned a good victory as Adam Dunn proved his class and hammered the Indians with great focus.
“The last homer, that probably was the most important so far in my career," Dunn said. "That was a win we needed. We were struggling to score runs, That guy's tough, man. I hadn't been seeing the ball real good. He left the pitch over, and it was one I was kind of swinging and missing at for about a week.”
He added, “It's baseball. I don't look at it being important or this or that. This is your job, Obviously everybody wants to get to the postseason, but it's just fun. It's fun right now when every single game matters.”
Overall the White Sox played as one unit and rattled the Indians with their aggressiveness. White Sox’s batters and pitchers showed their true class and edged past the Indians’ offence with full authority. Their pitchers kept the Indians' hitters under pressure during the entire game and sneak past with one run.
Chris Sale pitched seven innings and received three runs and ten hits. Though he was hammered with a home-run but struck-out four on his 2.86.
Brett Myers pitched one solid innings and did not receive any run or hit on his consistent 3.21 ERA.
Relief pitcher Matt Thornton allowed two hits and one run. Though he was unable to strike-out any batter but his ERA remained consistent with 3.32.
Along with pitchers, the White Sox hitters also contributed in their team’s win. Third baseman Kevin Youkilis scored one and smashed two hits on his four at-bats. His batting was solid as he maintained his slugging percentage at .418.
Designated hitter Adam Dunn batted four times and scored two runs and smashed two hits along with four important RBIs which eventually proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
