Chicago White Sox outdo Kansas City Royals 4-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-2 in the first game of their three-game regular series encounter on Monday, August 6 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
White Sox played well from start of the game and won in the end. They never felt pressure during the entire game and eventually proved too good for the Royals.
Veteran Paul Konerko and Gordon Beckham played beautifully for the White Sox and earned a great victory for their team.
"We know what's on the line and where we want to go, If we're going to get there, everybody's got to step up and pitch in," said Beckham regarding his performance.
Both hit homers and contributed a great deal in their team’s well deserved victory over the Royals.
Along with hitters, the White Sox pitchers also played a balanced game and never gave any chance to their opponents to take control of play at any stage.
Chris Sale pitched eight innings and maintained his 2.59 ERA and allowed only two runs. He struck-out seven and proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
"I went through a little dead arm period, but it's par for the course, It's all behind us now. We've got a couple months left we're going to have to make a push it's not going to be easy. It gives you a little bit more time to recover catch your breath, I guess you could say, but you've still got a couple of months left, You've just got to keep going with it," Sale said explaining his outing.
Addison Reed also pitched well as he allowed only one hit on his 3.83 ERA.
On the other hand, the Royals’ pitchers did not play well and could not save the game for their team. They looked tired on the mound and pitched way-ward which proved one of the losing factors for the Royals as well.
Royals’ starter Luis Mendoza allowed four runs and seven hits along. He also received four earned runs on his 4.36 ERA in just 7.1 innings spell.
