Chicago White Sox outdo Texas Rangers 5-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 5-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, July 28 at Rangers Ballpark in Texas.
White Sox entire roster played aggressive and won the second consecutive game against the Rangers.
Adam Dunn with the bat and Philip Humber with his extraordinary pitching skills earned a great victory for their team.
Dunn scored two runs on two hits while he also earned two RBIs on his four at-bats.
“I hit a fastball, I know [Harrison]'s got really good pitches, a sinker. He'll pop a four-seamer in there and he has a curve, slider, and changeup. You really got to try to zone him up and have a plan at what you want to do. If you get away from your plan at all, he's going to get you," Dunn said with confidence and explained some to the media about his performance.
Philip Humber pitched six innings and allowed one run and four hits. He remained calm on the mound and tossed a beautiful six innings spell on 5.90 ERA.
"He was great. You see him getting ahead, really in the strike zone. That's when he's at his best. He's able to command the strike zone throwing his fastball to both sides of the plate,” manager Robin Ventura said of his starting pitcher with full admiration.
Closer Matt Thornton also did well for the White Sox and allowed only one run, one hit and one earned run in his single inning as his ERA also remained consistent at 3.77.
Rangers’ pitchers especially Matt Harrison was hammered with big hits. He allowed five runs and seven hits in his seven innings spell. He was also smashed with two homers while struck-out only four batters on his 3.19.
Not only pitchers, the Rangers batting line-up also could not do much and lost in the end. They made only two runs which were certainly not enough to win the game.
Designated hitter David Murphy and catcher Mike Napoli added one run a-piece while all other potential hitters failed against the White Sox pitchers.
