Chicago White Sox outfielder Alex Rios feels comfortable in right field – MLB News
Veteran baseball sensation and current Chicago White Sox outfielder Alex Rios is feeling quite comfortable in right field as well on his recent performance in the ongoing Major League Baseball season.
The 7-4 victory against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday is the most recent game in which he showed his true calibre of hard hitting player droving three runs, a single along with a double and a quick triple to go victorious against the potential title contenders this season.
Playing at right field, Rios is feeling the heat of getting into the shape before the mid season break when all the Major League teams will embark towards post season qualification.
“I’m just focusing on swinging at good pitches and having a good approach,’’ Rios said.
Later, the White Sox manager Robin Ventura also stated for Rios and his tremendous consistent current form.
Ventura said, “He’s been doing that for the last four or five days, staying in the middle of the field, He looks good at the plate, and he’s covering a lot of different things. He’s not just hitting fastballs but off-speed pitches, kind of doing everything. He’s pulling the inside pitch and going the other way. He looks really comfortable in right field, that’s where it starts."
Rios’ solid performance in the regular season is result of his hard work in Spring Training (Cactus League) which was held in Arizona last month. He remained brilliant throughout the month and achieved a reasonable hitting percentage.
Though many baseball pundits were not much optimistic regarding Rios and his potential game this season as they evaluated his past season’s performance with intensity, but still he came with a big heart into the fresh season and now playing aggressively against the best teams of MLB.
Last year with a hitting average of .227, Rios has turned the table upside down and enjoying the first four weeks of .360 hitting along with one homer, seven RBIs and .414 OBP.
In the meanwhile, this is a healthy sign for the White Sox, who are coming with a big ambition of winning the 2012 World Series title.
