Chicago White Sox outshine Kansas City Royals 2-1 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox outshined the Kansas City Royals 2-1 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 15 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
White Sox went early into the lead and kept their advantage until the final innings leading to a wonderful win in the end.
Not only did the Chicago side pitched well but their batters also played brilliantly and proved unplayable to the Royals who just could not score another run in their defeat.
With this win, the White Sox have also won the first three-match second half of the regular season series 2-1.
Chris Sale once again proved his valour and won the game for the White Sox. He pitched well and kept the Royals guessing on what was coming next from his hand. He kept his momentum with his exceptionally fast and curving deliveries as he gave only one run in his eight innings spell.
He gave up ten hits while he gave only one earned run. He struck-out four Royals’ hitters as his ERA remained consistent at 2.11.
Sale said, “Obviously, a lot of hits, You just try to brush that off and keep going about what you need to do and have that mindset and go out and still make pitches. I've always said I like pitching in warm weather way better than cold, It's definitely nice to have some heat out there today."
Later team-mate A.J. Pierzynski commented on Sale's performance and said, "He definitely didn't have his best stuff today, But at the same time, he battled and got a lot of ground balls when we needed them, got a couple strikeouts when we needed them. He made pitches when he had to.”
Designated hitter Adam Dunn also helped the White Sox with his hitting. He scored a run on a powerful hit while he also made a RBI as his slugging percentage remained consistent at .528.
On the other hand, Royals' starter Luis Mendoza despite playing well and pitching a balanced spell could not save the game for his team.
He pitched 7.1 innings and received two runs on four hits while he gave two earned runs as well. He was also hit with a homer as his ERA rose to 4.32.
