Chicago White Sox pick-up Jason Frasor's Option – MLB Update
The Chicago White Sox management has started to rebuild their roster for 2012 Major League Baseball season as they took a very bold step to pick-up Jason Frasor’s $3.75 million option for next year.
The White Sox acquired Frasor from the Toronto Blue Jays in July in a non-waiver trade. His record with the White Sox remained relatively good going 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA along with 20 strike-outs in just over 17 innings. Overall he has posted a 3.74 ERA in
his career with 446 strike-outs in 475 outings.
Before entering in the Major League, Frasor attended Oak Forest High School in Oak Forest, Illinois and did his graduation in 1995. He started playing for the Bengals as a starting pitcher, reliever and shortstop during his amateur career and later played
at Southern Illinois University and won the precious Richard “Itch” Jones award and named the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1997 and 1999.
White Sox finished with 83 losses and now their management needs to do much in terms of offseason acquisition to address the team's problems.
By picking up Jason Frasor's $3.75 million options for the next year, the White Sox are now committing a fairly significant chunk of money for a team that says their looking to cut payroll to the bullpen for the next couple of seasons. With Frasor in the
roster, the White Sox will have about $18 million spare for next year's bullpen, so now they are pretty sure the team will look for an upgrade.
However, the White Sox management can look for upgrades at first and third base while in this up-gradation Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel will be more prudent at these particular bases. The White Sox outfield on the other hand is relatively crowded with
Rios, along with Dayan Viciedo, Alejandro De Aza, and Adam Dunn.
All these facts are suggesting that the White Sox are a better looking team for next year. With Frasor returning and Jesse Crain or Matt Thornton’s trade on hold, the 2012 MLB season will bring more opportunities for them. The White Sox roster also seems
more threatening with Sergio Santos signing for next three seasons last summer and recent Fasor's services for an additional year.
