Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale appreciates Jake Peavy’s All Star success – MLB News
The All-Star game is over but the Chicago White Sox as a franchise is pleased with the performance of their All-Stars.
Not only the management but the players themselves are also feeling quite happy the way things unfolded for them from All-Star selection to All-Star game.
Recently news is coming that the White Sox pitcher Chris Sale whose role in this year’s All-Star game has been somewhat restricted in the presence of the highly experienced Justin Verlander, C.J. Wilson, CC Sabathia and Jered Weaver still managed to pitch
one inning in which he struck-out one National League batter.
However, at the same time, Sale is appreciating his team-mate Jake Peavy’s All-Star stint where despite performing well individually, the American League lost to the National League 8-0.
“I keep saying it, but I'll never forget this experience,'' Sale said. "It was really fun, better than I thought it would be.''
Sale added for Peavy, “It's a show, It's awesome. It just goes to show you how he competes, how he pushes himself to throw the perfect pitch. … He is one of the best competitors I've ever seen. He throws every pitch with a real purpose.''
Later Peavy also commented on his team-mate Sale and said, “Watching what (Sale has done), seeing him get this experience, take it all in, it has been incredible.''
The level of performance by the National League was far better than the American All-Stars. NL never let the AL to score and kept them under pressure.
In the meanwhile, coming onto the Sale’s comments about Peavy, whom he thinks the wild card of White Sox in the second half of the season, certainly played well during the first half of the season achieving 2.85 ERA, 7-5 win-loss, 108 strike-outs and 0.99
WHIP.
These stats certainly show how productive Peavy’s game will prove for the White Sox in the coming days.
Experts also believe that the White Sox, who are at the moment on top in the American League Central, can still finish as Central Division leaders if Peavy stays consistent with his pitching in the second half of the season.
