Chicago White Sox rattle Minnesota Twins 4-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox rattled the Minnesota Twins 4-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, September 3 at U.S. Cellular in Chicago.
Second baseman Gordon Beckham played well and added one run and smashed two hits along with three RBIs on his consistent .365 slugging percentage.
Shortstop Alexei Ramirez scored one run and smashed one hit on four at-bats. He also played well and earned a great victory for his team. He batted well and maintained his slugging percentage at .374.
Catcher A.J. Pierzynski also did well on the plate as he scored one run and smashed one hit on his .523 slugging percentage.
Third baseman Kevin Youkilis also added one run and smashed two hits on his .423 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Chicago White Sox pitchers also played well and earned a great victory for their team.
Starting pitcher Hector Santiago started the game for the White Sox and received only one run on three hits. He pitched five innings and maintained his ERA at 3.71. He retired six and proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
"Hector did a great job. You ask him to start, a guy that's gone from being a closer and being in the bullpen. He got sent down stretched him out. This is a big one, You're asking him to stop a losing streak and he pitched a great game," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of his starter’s contribution.
"I got home last night and watched the entire game. I watched every inning. I knew what today meant I knew today was a big game especially after the game was over and we lost, I knew I had to come out and be ready give ourselves a chance to win," said Santiago.
Relief pitcher Matt Thornton also played well and received only one run on one hit. He struck-out one and maintained his ERA at 3.62.
On the other hand, the Twins' starting pitcher Samuel Deduno pitched six innings and allowed two runs and six hits and literally lost the game for the Twins.
