Chicago White Sox rookie relief pitcher Hector Santiago shines with the ball – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Hector Santiago is feeling enormously comfortable coming into his first full Major League outing for South Chicago Baseball franchise.
Some experts on young Major Leaguers have earlier stated in the media that Santiago will not be playing aggressive this time around as he yet to gain some speed in his curve throws.
However, the way Santiago is playing currently in the ongoing Major League Baseball season is certainly amazing and surprising for many.
He is looking great in outfield and on the mound; his confidence is soaring as his pitching getting stronger and stronger while with the passage of time as he possesses the abilities to win games for White Sox.
Regarding Santiago’s recent performances and mature power plays, some experts are trying to give their professional analysis. Chuck Fox, who is former White Sox area scout and currently the amateur player administration special assistant with Major League
Baseball, has told the media about Santiago. He said, “It was a great opportunity for us, Hector was a diamond in the rough. It was good for him to head to Florida (at Okaloosa-Walton Community College) to compete in warm weather against high-caliber players."
Fox added for Santiago, “Hector needed time to develop. He had a good arm but just needed some work with his secondary stuff. He was open to going (to a JC). He never had been away from home. He matured. He was challenged and played for a no-nonsense coach
and bought into it. The big thing about Hector is that he's a blue-collar kid who is down to earth.”
Santiago’s performance is certainly improving with every game. His current ERA of 5.40 is relatively good as compare to other young enters in the biggest baseball league in the world. So far he has saved three games for the White Sox with seven strikeouts
along with 1.20 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career ERA of 2.61 along three-save, nine strikeouts and 0.77 WHIP also makes him an energetic player. Experts believe that Santiago is an exceptional player and will rise one day as baseball prodigy.
