Chicago White Sox rout Kansas City Royals 5-0 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox routed the Kansas City Royals 5-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series on Friday, May 11, at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Designated hitter Adam Dunn and starter Gavin Floyd hammered their opponents with enormous energy.
The first inning homer to right field by Adam Dunn started the early thrust which eventually proved the winning factor for the White Sox.
“I'm definitely not where I want to be. This is one of those starts to a season I expect to do," Dunn said. "There are a lot of things for me personally that I want to work on and get better. To me, strikeouts, I get as mad as anyone. I'm not going to change my approach or what I'm going to do unless the situation dictates that.”
Later, Chicago manager Robin Ventura said of Dunn, "He's been on a nice roll, he had nice at-bats tonight, He's in a nice spot. He's seeing the ball well and good things happen when he makes contact."
On the other hand, starter Gavin Floyd also played wonderful for the White Sox. He performed with tremendous energy and real coolness. On the mound, his confidence seemed too good in his 7.2 innings along with five hits and five strikeouts.
Floyd also avoided some potential runs when two bases were loaded with Royals hitters Alcides Escobar and Humberto Quintero and earned great appreciation from his team.
From start until it was finished, the White Sox showed total domination on the Royals batting lineup and never allowed them to score any run.
On the other hand, their batters seemed in control. Scoring first run in the first inning, the White Sox strengthened their lead with two in the third inning. While the later sixth and seventh innings further proved terrible for the Royals in which the White Sox scored three more runs and ruined their all chances to make a comeback.
The next game is scheduled on Saturday, May 12 and the White Sox have a fair chance now to clinch the series as well.
