Chicago White Sox second-baseman Gordon Beckham believes his hitting strengths improving
The Chicago White Sox talented second-baseman and infielder Gordon Beckham is lately showing some great determination for the next Major League Baseball regular season after performing poorly in 2011. He was unable to play well especially down the stretch late in the regular season.
Recently, he gave an exclusive interview saying his full concentration is now diverted especially on hitting and it will further improve before the start of the next season. He described with self-belief that he his hitting hard and working alone on some untested skills which will eventually help him play more offensive.
During the interview, he talked in detail regarding every aspect of his potential improvement level that is also likely to come soon after a disappointing performance in 2011.
Beckham said, “I wish it wasn't that way, but when you get kicked and knocked down, you see the person you are, you either can roll over and fold, or you can stand back up and do the work. You have to learn from some failure. I learned from a good amount last year, and it wasn't fun for me. It wasn't fun for any White Sox fan watching that last year. But I'm still very positive about what we can do in next season and what I can do. I'm not going to let anyone else tell me otherwise.”
Last year, Beckham averaged .230 hitting along with 10 home-runs 44 RBIs and inconsistent OBP of .296. Playing for almost two years now, his overall career batting average has reached .249 with 33 homers, 156 RBIs and .318 of OBP.
Some two weeks ago, the White Sox general manager Kenny Williams was also in the limelight regarding Beckham’s potential stay in the franchise. This is also on record that Beckham, due to last year’s performance was on the White Sox potential trade lines but Williams held-back his possible trade decision.
Beckham is a productive batter and if he clicks at the right time, he has the potential to hammer many pitchers. Experts also believe that the White Sox are on the right path as they just need to play hard against their division teams.
