Chicago White Sox shock Chicago Cubs 7-0 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-0 in the final and third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 20 at U.S. Cellular Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
"We needed that," Gordon Beckham said. "We've been doing a good job of not getting swept. ... We're playing hard, we're doing the right thing. It's just coming a little harder the last week and a half."
Despite winning this game, the White Sox could not save the series as they already had lost first two games with big margins.
However, this win still will give the White Sox some confidence going into the very next series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cubs’, who played brilliantly in previous two games, came out on the field with winning mood, but in the end lost the game with bitter humiliation as their pitching offence just failed to pitch in the right areas.
"The bottom line was the walks again with him," manager Dale Sveum said. "He's got to throw strikes. He just can't seem to maintain innings without walking anybody."
Cubs’ two main pitchers Randy Wells and closer Scott Maine played poorly and got hammered with six combined runs.
Randy Wells pitched 3.2 innings and gave five hits and three earned runs with no strike-outs.
Scott Maine only pitched one inning but still hammered for three runs, two hits and three earned runs while his ERA rose to blistering 9.45.
Gavin Floyd on the other hand, latterly won the game for the White Sox. He pitched well and remained calm on the mound.
"It was frustrating," Floyd said. "There were games where I felt really good and (just didn't) get the results, It's part of baseball, I guess."
Floyd pitched 6.1 innings and received four hits with no run.
Now since the White Sox’s have won the last particular game with their city rivals, their confidence is rocketing high and they are looking more wins in the near future.
They are already sustaining the second position in the American League Central with 36-33 win loss and .522 winning percentage.
